the story

My name is Lotta Grimmelikhuysen. I grew up in South Africa. After high school I spent two years in the Netherlands before moving to Perth, Western Australia.  

From a young age, creating felt natural to me. I was inspired by my parents, both entrepreneurs in creative fields. My childhood home was filled with art, all carefully chosen by my father. I loved being surrounded by art and creative people who encouraged me to explore that part of me.

When my father turned fifty, he asked me to create a painting for him. He bought me a large canvas to fill an empty wall in our home. When I asked him what he wanted, he simply said “Make me something I would love.” Inspired by him and the art-filled environment I grew up in, I began creating.
